Google’s $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility, a good sign for the economy?

Besides Google’s announcement of its biggest buyout in its history, Time Warner Cable Inc.’s statement that it will buy Insight Communications Co. (which has over 750,000 cable customers in the Midwest) for $3 billion in cash, Agribusiness conglomerate Cargill’s declaration that it will pay animal nutrition company Provimi of the Netherlands $2.16 billion, and offshore driller Transocean Ltd.’s proclamation that it will pay Aker Drilling of Norway $1.43 billion in cash – a little over $19 billion worth of corporate deals -, caused the Dow Jones industrial average to rise on Monday.

The Washington Post reports that the “average [is] up 213 points and [it has] erased its losses from last week.”

Sounds like large corporations aren’t living in fear. Small- and medium-sized businesses should learn from them. It may be just the right time for small- to medium-sized businesses to be aggressive in their marketing efforts more than ever.

Whether you are a 100% online business, a brick-and-mortar company that also sells online, or a company with just a website without an online store, getting a good, professional internet marketing firm on your side can you give you some great results in such a fluctuating economic times.

The internet marketing firm that you will hire will work to get your business website on the first search engine result page for a variety of keywords and key phrases that best define the products and/or services you provide. You can imagine the benefits of your website appearing on the first page on Google for example against a hot keyword. For those who aren’t aware, websites that appear on first search engine result pages get the most traffic than those that appear on subsequent pages. This means that the first-page websites have a great chance of converting visitors into customers and returning customers.

That’s not all. A professional internet marketing firm can help you make your products/services more visible on highly populated social media sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Google+ etc.

The bottom line is: Carry on with your business just like large, successful corporations of this country and choose your internet marketing firm wisely.
